Why we do this:
All of your emails are pointless if they never make it into your prospect’s inbox.
The purpose of this work is to set up the infrastructure to deliver cold emails at scale that actually make it into your prospect’s inbox while protecting your primary domain.
You should not use your primary domain for scaled cold outbound because it is too risky. Unlike secondary domains your primary domain is not easily dispensable. Treat it without care and you might not even be able to get in your customer’s inbox.
Tools and purpose:
DOMAIN MARKETPLACE AND DNS HOSTING PROVIDER
- Vendor: Namecheap
- Purpose: A place to buy the domains the outbound inboxes are connected to. It is also my DNS hosting provider - this means It translates your domain name into the IP address that computers use to find your website online.
- Cost: Highly variable but for secondary outbound domains you should not spend more than $15 / year / domain. You are using it to protect your primary email not because you love it.
- Process: Buy your secondary domains here (you should try and get domains that look somewhat like your primary domain. For example if your primary domain is cocacola.com you should try and get secondary domains such as trycocacola.com or drinkcocacola.com. You want to make it look as associated as possible to your brand as possible.
EMAIL OUTREACH AND AUTOMATION PLATFORM
- Vendor: Lemlist or Instantly (se Instantly if you are doing high-volume (>150 emails a day) and don’t require LinkedIn automations or have another tool for it)
- Purpose: Email outreach automation platform. These platforms let you send multiple emails in sequences from multiple inboxes and receive them back into a single inbox. Can be integrated with both Hubspot and Clay (configuration variable).
- Cost:
- Lemlist: $99 / month for up to 5 inboxes and then $9 / month per additional inbox.
- Instantly: $37 / month for the growth plan.

💡
If you send less than 500 emails / day and want an inbuilt LinkedIn automation tool, Lemlist makes more sense. If you want to send a higher volume of emails Instantly makes more sense but does not include LinkedIn automation tool.
